An
Idea Becomes Reality
In November of 1989, Greg Specht was a physical
therapy student working in the P.T. clinic at The Health Center,
a satellite facility of the West Jefferson Medical Center
just outside of New Orleans, Louisiana.
The Health Center was designed so that the physical
therapy clinic was connected to a fitness center. Being in
this location, Greg gained invaluable insight into the superior
level of care delivered by physical therapists when working
inside a health and fitness center. Greg saw that patients,
upon discharge from formal treatment, were able to carry out
their exercise programs using the same equipment with which
they had rehabilitated their injuries. This was obviously
an advanced way to practice as a P.T. and Greg knew that that
he wanted to continue working in this type of setting after
graduating from physical therapy school.
Over the course of his first ten years
as a professional physical therapist, Greg was unable to find
a P.T. clinic in Southeastern Massachusetts or Rhode Island
that effectively merged physical therapy care into a fitness
center. Finally in the spring of 2001, Greg decided that he
would open his own clinic and it would be inside one of the
top fitness centers in the region.
On July 23rd 2001, Specht Physical Therapy opened
inside Swansea Total Fitness in Swansea, Massachusetts. Since
that time, the clinic has doubled in size and the staff has
grown to three full-time physical therapists. Most important,
Greg knows that he has created the ultimate environment for
delivering outstanding physical therapy services to his patients.
